Lake Fly Fishing
Enjoy a relaxing and productive day drifting across one of the Central Plateau's beautiful small lakes. The boat moves quietly with the wind, allowing you to fish naturally - a proven and rewarding fly-fishing technique.
If you’re new to fishing, spin fishing is a great place to start. More experienced anglers who can cast a bit further can enjoy stripping flies—and the excitement of a trout hitting your fly with full force!
You'll learn local tips and techniques while soaking in the serenity of New Zealand's landscapes.
A day out will usually start at 8am, travel to the lake for the day, have 6 hours on the water, back to Taupō by 4 or 5pm. I will work with you to determine the best fishing lake for you and timings that suit.
Your Vessel
Either a Quintrex Explorer 420 Trophy, or a FC430. Both boats are equipped with quality gear and the latest GPS technology for a safe, comfortable and enjoyable day.
Both have a maximum of 2 anglers plus a guide.
A day involves...
A full day fishing includes:

all fishing gear

wet or warm weather clothing

lunch, hot drinks and snacks

6 hours on the water plus travelling time

transport with guide

private lake fees if applicable

some lakes we are able to catch and eat trout, others are catch and release
Does not include: day fishing licences which need to be bought by your personally for the day.
